Limitless Space – The Final Frontier

The Stories of all the screenplays in all the films in the list below, make imaginative use of scientific theories and knowledge. But what were science-fiction in the movies a decade ago, are now in many cases, scientific facts in real life. 

As a branch of literature and pop culture, the genre science fiction has its roots in ancient myths, para-normal, parallel universe, superheroes, indicating the consequences of scientific, social and technological innovations. The genre inspires a sense of wonderment.

Not too far-fetched, out of reach, or even out of this world, the movies to watch in our sci-fi list are from a variety of dates, timeline, film companies and directors. I – ROBOT

In the year 2035, robots are programmed to live in harmony with humans, and are now part of everyday life. When a brilliant scientist at the U.S. Robotics Corporation is found dead, Chicago detective Del Spooner is directed to investigate.

Assisted by attractive psychologist Dr. Susan Calvin, a specialist in robotics, detective Spooner uncovers the possibility that a robot may be the primary suspect in the case.

But as Spooner gets closer to the truth, he gets caught up in a race and battle for his life. With time running out, a deeper threat emerges, that challenges the very existence of humanity.

THE FIFTH ELEMENT

In the year 2257, a planet-sized sphere of supreme evil is approaching the Earth at relentless speed.

The threat is to exterminate all living organism, unless four ancient stones, symbols for representing the elements of fire, water, earth, and wind, are united with a mysterious ‘Fifth Element.’

The movie reveals the hidden internals of science as fiction. The Fifth Element takes you on an adrenalin-filled journey to new dimensions of sumptuous visual effects and spectacular explosions. 

A.I. – ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Running Time: 140 mins approx.

This film explores the fine line between robotics and humans, including the methods in which we are being integrated with machines.

A young robotic boy, is the first in a long line of experiments, being programmed to feel human emotions.

The robotic boy is used as a temporary substitute for a couple who have had their son cryogenically frozen, until a cure is found for his terminal illness. Be careful, this film could blow your mind.

LO AND BEHOLD.

Director Werner Herzog film chronicles the virtual world from its origin to its outmost reaches. Exploring the digital landscape with the same curiosity and imagination he previously did in the Amazon.

Through a series of provocative conversations that reveal the ways in which the online world has transformed, how virtually everything in the real-world works – from business to space travel, healthcare, and online dating.

THE SPIRIT

Running Time: 90 mins approx.

Above crime infested streets, a masked avenger watch everything below. Denny Colt was one of central city’s finest cops, until a gangster’s bullet ended his life.

Now, fate has brought him back from beyond the grave as ‘The Spirit’, a street- hardened hero who faces off against all types of foes. This graphic action thriller will grip you, like the evil-archenemy Octopus.

2047 VIRTUAL REALITY

In 2047, the majority of the world’s population spends most of their time connected to a virtual world.

A private individual is hired to track down terrorists who are threating the virtual worlds, by randomly killing people from within the domain.

When he finds them, he discovers, he’s in the middle of a dangerous game between his employer and criminals, who will do anything to protect their identity.

THE ISLAND

Two residents on an isolated, high-tech compound, discover they’re clones, and is worth more dead than alive. 

They devise a plan to make a daring escape. Caught-up in a strange unknown environment and avoiding an armed team of mercenaries in pursuit.

They are prepared to risk their lives to save those left behind and reveal the truth about the Island. 

SKY CAPTAIN and THE WORLD of TOMORROW

When mysterious giant robots begin attacking the streets of New York city, intrepid reporter Polly Perkins is on the story, and enlist the support of old flame sky captain, Joseph.

Their mission is to find out who’s behind the killing machines and stop a plot to destroy the world before its too late.

The film features innovative state of – the art special effects, that will thrill and amaze.

GRAVITY

Running Time: 87 mins approx.Dr. Ryan Stone is a brilliant engineer on her first shuttle mission with a veteran astronaut. On a routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. 

The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Dr. Stone and the astronaut alone. Tethered to nothing but each other and spiralling out into the darkness.

As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eliminates the little oxygen that is left. The way home is nowhere in sight, only the expanse of space is visible.

STAR TREK – INTO DARKNESS
