ETHNIC RIDDLES – 17th May – 3rd June 2023- Thompson’s Gallery, London. Taking inspiration from from cubism, Neo-Expressionism, the imagery of Jean Michel Basquiat, and motifs from his lived experiences. Thembalethu Manqunyana, highly personalised approach to fine art making, has captured the attention of collectors all around the world. The Artist

Born in 1984, Thembalethu Manqunyana is from Kwazakhele, South Africa. Discovering his passion for art, he began studying Art&Design at port Elizabeth College in from 2005-2006in South Africa. He attended Nelson Mandella University in 2007-2011, graduating in Fine Art – Sculpture. Practising art and continuing his studies, he attended Rhodes University from 2012-2013, attaining a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Visual Culture & Xhosa, Art History, Politics and Psychology. His current style of painting, generates a visual dialogue which is intended to mark the growth and a departure from the status quo, and established identities for African artist.
